• STD : Standard model , does not have additional functionalities or features.
• SIX : Variant with 6 MOA dot size. Non-SIX variants have a 3 MOA dot.
• MOS: MOtion Sensor. It contains a sensor that turns the dot on when motion is detected and turns it off after 2 minutes of inactivity.
• AUT : AUTomatic dot intensity. It is equipped with a sensor that detects the amount of ambient light and sets the red dot light intensity automatically. This function can be disabled.

Slowly but steadily Vector Optics is becoming one of the key brands when it comes to sports optics . This Chinese brand is known for its excellent price-quality ratio and they have telescopic sights, red dot scopes, rangefinders, among other products.

Today we are going to do a little review of Frenzy, their premium line of open reflex type red dot sight glasses. All models are applicable in rifles, shotguns and pistols.

The idea is to review advantages and disadvantages , what model variants they have to offer us and what we must take into account when buying. Finally we will give our opinion on this line . Let’s go!

Pros and cons of the Frenzy line

We are going to comment on the pros and cons that we can find in this line of products. To do this , we draw up a small list of advantages and disadvantages that we will share below:

Advantages in detail

• They are one of the cheapest red dot reflex scopes on the market. Some even cost 4 times less than their direct competition in other brands.
• Lightweight, fairly compact and discreet design. They feature ultra-compact models such as the Vector Optics Frenzy-S 1x16x22 and the Vector Optics Frenzy 1x17x24 MIC , which weigh, without the mount, about 12.4 and 18.4 grams respectively, making them some of the lightest products on the market.
• They adapt to any picatinny or weaver base whether it is mounted on a firearm or airgun (pcp or airsoft). Even without the mount, they are well suited to handguns.
• The motion sensor or automatic intensity point functions (depending on the model we choose) are very useful and very practical, both to improve battery life and to favor speed in the acquisition of the target.
• They include a lifetime warranty , which covers any malfunction or manufacturing defect that we may experience with Frenzy products.

Disadvantages in detail

• Most Frenzy have a single dot size available for sale (3MOA) with the exception of the Vector Optics Frenzy-X 1x20x28 SIX , which has a 6 MOA dot. Pistol shooters tend to look for larger dot diameters as they favor speed in target acquisition. It would be nice to have a greater variety of alternatives to choose from in this regard.
• Although MOS and AUT are great features, neither model has both at the same time. We hope that Vector Optics will soon launch an alternative that includes both functionalities.
• The elevation and windage adjustments of the frenzy red dot sights do not work with clicks which makes calibration and adjustments quite cumbersome.
• The battery location is under the sight. If we want to replace it, we will have to remove the mount, which is quite uncomfortable and we may have to recalibrate later.

In this buying guide we intend to give an orientation on which model should be bought according to the purpose of the shooter . There are no better and worse, they are very similar models with slight differences between them.

It is the most economical, less heavy and less bulky model . Ideal for use in pistols. It has automatic point intensity (can be removed). It weighs only 12.4 grams.

Vector Optics Frenzy 1x17x24 STD

It is by far the best-selling model and the second lightest. It has a very low profile and does not have additional functionalities. This also makes it the second cheapest model in the entire line. One of my favorites.

Similar to the previous one but the design varies slightly with more rounded contours. It incorporates the MOS (Motion Sensor) functionality that is a favorite among pistol shooters. Due to this the price also increases.

Alternative functionality AUT (Automatic Dot Intensity) is hated by some and adored by other shooters. While we can do without it (changing the intensity to manual) we cannot do without the price increase that it brings. I’m personally not a fan of this feature.

It is the second best selling alternative of the Frenzy line. Being a standard model, it does not have additional functionalities such as MOS or AUT, but its price is also lower. It has an auto shutdown after 4 hours of inactivity, which is quite useful not to kill the battery in a forgetfulness. Also, the 1x20x28 models have the widest window, some users like it.

It is the third best-selling model and a favorite among pistol users. It has the same characteristics as the 1x20x28 STD, but has a larger dot diameter of 6MOA (the standard is 3MOA only). This works against precision but in favor of faster target acquisition, which is exactly what we are looking for in defensive pistol shooting, for example.

The 1x22x26 models have the highest, circular viewing window. They allow you to see more but at the same time, they are heavier, bulky and expensive. The MOS model is the best seller of these ones. There are those who prefer a larger visual window, there are those who do not. About tastes there is nothing written.

Identical to the previous one, only this one has automatic dot intensity. Very few choose the widest window and the AUT function at the same time. The more traditionalists prefer a lower profile and regulate the intensity of their scope themselves.

General opinion Vector Optics Frenzy scopes

In my opinion , they are one of the best alternatives in reflex type red dot sights . I say this because the quality of Vector Optics is excellent, and in prices they are unrivaled.

The price-quality ratio is very very good. Overall, its users agree and speak well of Vector Optics in general and the Frenzy line in particular. I personally recommend them.
