Today we have to analyze the VO Sentinel 10-40×50 . This is not the model X (adapted to competition at 25 meters), we are talking about the standard variant, the scope with the highest zoom power in the Sentinel line.
We have been hitting hard to the reviews of the Sentinel riflescopes and we already know a little about the benefits of the smaller models, but the time arrived for one of the big ones. We have to see if bigger and heavier is better or not and that is what we are here for.

Features Vector Optics Sentinel 10-40×50 E-SF
As always, we start with the technical sheet to get a general idea of the scope .
- Magnification : Very high. From 10X to 40X.
- Lens diameter : Wide. 50 mm favor a good entrance of light.
- Focal plane: Second focal plane. The size of the reticle does NOT change with zoom.
- Turrets : Tactical type, with visible marking and blocking. With zero resettable.
- Turrets adjustment : Good. 50 MOAs total internal adjustment. Click value 1/8 MOA.
- Eye relief : Excellent. 85-92mm eye relief.
- Tube diameter : 30mm monotube.
- Protection : Shockproof (750g), waterproof and fully nitrogen purged.
- Parallax adjustment : Lateral, 10 yards to infinity.
- Illumination : Continuous green and red. Adjustment over the lens of the eye.
- Size: Big. Length 405 mm. Weight 745 gr.
- Reticle : Type MPR-3 (for target shooting).
Purpose of the scope
Mainly precision shooting and sports-type target shooting (Long range varmint).
Can it be used for precision shooting? Yes.
Can it be used to compete? Yes. Especially disciplines with air guns and low calibers.
Can it be used for hunting? Not recommended.
Regarding the platforms on which the scope can be mounted , it is specially designed to withstand the recoil of air rifles, pcp and low fire calibers for precision shooting (ex: .22, .22 mg .223, etc) .

Let’s now analyze the attributes of the scope with its primary purpose in mind: sport target shooting.
It is extremely similar to the 3 models that we already reviewed:
- They are X4 magnification scopes (the maximum zoom is 4 times the minimum zoom).
- Same objective lens diameter ( 50mm , quite wide).
- All are second focal plane and are expressed in MOA .
- 30-millimeter monotube in all cases.
As for the particularities of this model we can mention:
- More zoom (this is the model with the highest magnification level of the line ).
- Higher price (it is the model with the highest price of the line ).
Is it worth buying? Pros and cons
Enough of the chatter, let’s get to the steaks. These are the advantages and disadvantages that we found:
Advantages
✅ High magnification.
✅ 5-year warranty.
✅ Good value for money.
Disadvantages
⛔ Poor illumination.
⛔ Big and heavy.

Advantages in detail
Something indisputable about this scope is the great zoom power it has. A variable zoom of 10-40 leaves us covered in a lot of medium and long distance shooting scenarios.
The entire Sentinel line has a 5-year warranty. It is always a peace of mind to have a guarantee and if it is more than one year better. Scope without warranty, be suspicious.
This is a scope that ranges between 220 and 240 US dollars (depending on the time of year you see it). And the truth is that, for the price, you get quite a quality optics.
Disadvantages in detail
The reticle illumination system is pretty bad. There’s not much sharpness to the reticle when it is lit, and it adds annoying extra brightness that doesn’t help at all.
We had already noticed, it is a long and heavy scope . This is not too bad considering that it is mostly used for shooting with both elbows on the ground, but it is still a disadvantage.
The entire Sentinel line leaves out those of us who operate with MILs. Obviously it is a model that is sold to regions that use MOA and that’s why there is no alternatives of this model in another unit of measure.

General opinions Vector Optics Sentinel 10-40×50
Here is the general opinion of the VO Sentinel 10-40×50 users :
- Good optic for the price.
- The turrets feel good to the touch and to the ear.
- It’s a scope for precision shooting with varmint rifles. Is made for that, not for anything else.
- Good shipping times and decent customer support.
- We have not observed complaints about malfunctions or details out of place in the scope .
In general, the opinions and reviews are quite in line with what we have already been commenting on.
Personal opinion Vector Optics Sentinel 10-40×50 SFP E-SF
It is not one of my favorite riflescopes but it is effective and for the price I would consider it. Those who follow me already know that I am not very into precision shooting but I think I can appreciate when a scope delivers and when it doesn’t, and this product delivers what it promises.
The zoom level is very good and the brand in general has always been good to us. Overall, Vector’s don’t disappoint.
In short, I feel comfortable recommending this scope , especially to beginners in precision shooting with air rifles or small calibers.
