Let’s now analyze the attributes of the scope with its primary purpose in mind: sport target shooting.

comparison sentinel scopes

The entire Sentinel line (with the exception of the X10-40 model) is specially designed for sports Target Shooting (Field Target) , generally a discipline for small calibers or air rifles.

The main difference with the 4-16×50 model is the increase in magnification , as we can see in the chart.

Greater magnification implies longer distances, so from this product, we can see that the entire line has MOA adjustment of 1/8 click , giving us greater precision in regulation and calibration.

Outside of the magnification levels, the functionalities and characteristics of the products are identical to those of the rest of the line (always leaving out the X model).

We can find:

  • MPR3 reticle
  • Green and red illumination of the “infinite” type or, what is the same, without graduation.
  • Lockable and zero resettable turrets.

The latter is interesting: resetting” the turrets to zero implies that we can change the zero to whatever value we need depending on our calibration distance, for example, and then adapt the turrets values to our personal configuration.

Now let’s look at some specific considerations.

More zoom at the same price

Considering that the purpose of the scope is sports target shooting, 24x zoom is much more than we will needto achieve this.

In this case, more magnification is not equal to more budget. When we compare it with the 4-16×50 model, it has less magnification and a similar price.

MPR3 reticle with illumination and references for competition

As in the entire line, we have the MPR3 reticle which is nice and effective . Its ½ MOA settings were also designed thinking on the purpose of this scope.

Second focal plane

We cannot fail to mention that this is a second focal plane scope. That said, the references and marks of the reticle will only be scaled (and therefore will be valid for making adjustments) at the magnification level defined by the manufacturer, in this case, x20 increases.

If we had a first focal plane scope, it does not matter in what magnification we were, the references of our reticle will always maintain the scale and will be valid for making adjustments. This advantage obviously makes its price more expensive.

The brand has probably defined keeping this scope with a second focal plane so as not to raise the price of it .

Complete but average quality accessory kit

The add-on kit, from what we see, is not of impressive quality but it does seem complete. It includes:

  • Flip up lens caps
  • Hexagonal type solar filter
  • Mounting rail
  • 30mm mounting rings

Is it worth buying? Pros and cons

Let’s see in detail the advantages and disadvantages that we find at first glance in this product.

Advantages

✅ Specific purpose.

✅ Reticle.

✅ Warranty.

Disadvantages

⛔ Second focal plane.

⛔ Regular quality accessories.

Advantages in detail

This is a product specifically designed for sports target shooting , with more than enough magnification to fulfill its mission.

Illuminated reticle with marking for adjustment. These two features are always nice to have.

5 years warranty . We believe that it is a highlight, since it gives us peace of mind when buying a scope from a not very well known brand, especially in the face of manufacturing or shipping problems. As you can see below, many customers highlighted the brand’s willingness to solve shipping or manufacturing problems.

Disadvantages in detail

Second focal plane scope. This is clearly an advantage for the price, but not very convenient when it comes to aiming exercises at different distances. It can be a downside specially for more experienced shooters.

Accessories are not of quality. Although we said that the kit is quite complete for the price we pay, the quality of the extras leaves a little to be desired , especially the packaging.

A parallax adjusting wheel is missing. Shooters who want to make quick parallax adjustments will have to buy it separately.

General opinions Vector Optics Sentinel 6-24×50

We have made a general analysis of the reviews of this product, and we found that the following opinions are repeated:

  • The buyers usually criticize the packaging for being of medium quality
  • They also noted that it is a scope exclusively for air guns or small calibers , something that the manufacturing company does not clarify, but that should be taken into account.
  • On the other hand, we found customers very happy with the sharpness of the scope and its good image quality even at its maximum magnification and in dark conditions.
  • In general, the excellent value for money of the product stands out.

Here is another review that states that the clarity and brightness of the scope, as well as the possibilities of the parallax adjustment. Remember to activate the subtitles with automatic translation into your preferred language:

    1. Hi Guy, thanks for commenting.

Sure, to reset the turrets you have to unscrew the screw that is in the middle of the turret with the Allen key provided.

Then reposition the turret where you want and screw back on. And that’s it.

      I hope this helps.

      Good shooting!
