There is a relatively small segment of buyers who may be interested in the viewer that we bring up for discussion today. It is the Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP.
It is designed for dynamic shooters who practice CQC or CQB (Combat in closed spaces), either in practical shooting competitions or military training. In general they use automatic or semi-automatic rifles such as the well-known AR or AK rifles. It has always been difficult to find riflescopes of this type, since the segment is very specific and the demands are very high.
Today we bring you the analysis of one of the few alternatives in first focal plane riflescopes for CQB and possibly the most economical of all. The question is, is it worth it?, this is what we are going to find out in this review. Let’s go!

Features of Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP
We are going to analyze the characteristics from the point of view of whether they meet the requirements of combat in close quarters, which would be the main purpose of this scope.
A dynamic scope
The CQB requires that we can shoot at zero range or very short distances where the scope has to function as a red dot. But it also requires that, when the situation warrants it, we can take shots at medium distances . With which, we look for a low magnification scope (LMVO) but that has that versatility.
The Continental 1-6×28 meets the primary requirement of have 1X magnification (without magnification), where we can shoot with the maximum visual field and both eyes open. With respect to medium distances, it is stretched up to a 6X magnification level, which could be considered sufficient. There are other riflescopes of this profile with a higher maximum zoom, but from 6X we are fine.
In addition to this, it has 28 millimeters in diameter in the objective lens which is a little larger than the standard (24 mm) . This gives us a little extra light input and field of vision that is always welcome.
FFP (First focal plane)
Here is usually the biggest challenge. What happens with this class of riflescopes is that they are usually second focal plane (SFP) since it is very difficult to get a first focal plane (FFP) reticle that is functional at both short and medium distances.
In general, close-up focal plane scopes work well at high levels of magnification, but at low levels of magnification they are very difficult to see . While the second focal plane ones have the advantage that they are easy to view at any zoom level, but you can only use the reticule references when the zoom level is at maximum.
How, then, to achieve a close-up focal plane viewer where the reticle is functional at both low and high magnifications? It is quite a challenge and very few optics offer the solution. Among the few that do succeed, the VO Continental 1-6×28 FFP to have been one of those who found that balance. The key is found in the work on the grid that we will see below.
Illuminated Combat Reticle VCT-BNW
The secret of the reticle lies in its clever design in conjunction with the illuminable front sight. When we are at 1X magnification, it seems that we are using a red dot sight and the references are practically invisible.
Whereas when we zoom to 6X, we can clearly see the references that the reticle has and use them to make the corrections we need. I leave here the measurements:
The intensity of the center of the reticle can be adjusted from the left side turret of the scope and has 6 levels, including the OFF mode .

Comparison with other Continental series FFP scopes
Let’s now look at the differences between the Continental FFP riflescopes Any characteristic that does not appear in this table is because it is the same in the 4 models.

| Review |
As can be seen by its characteristics and construction, the only scope from Vector Optics’ highest line that is prepared for CQB is the one we present to you.
Is it worth buying? Pros and cons
Let’s now analyze what would be the positive and negative points of the optics.
Advantages
✅ Combination of FFP and reticle.
✅ Excellent dimensions and weight.
✅ Lifetime warranty.
Disadvantages
⛔ Only available in MILs not in MOAs.
⛔ The maximum magnification could be higher.
⛔ Few references in the reticle.
Advantages in detail
It is quite difficult to design a reticle that is in the first focal plane that is really useful at both short and long distances, but this scope has been successful in this regard. It operates as a red dot at zero distance and is a competent alternative at medium distances.
What we are also looking for in this type of scope is that it be compact and light, since the shooter has a lot of movement in this type of discipline. This is one of the strengths of the scope, since they have achieved a weight and a length of the product, well below the competition.
Last but not least, for belonging to the Continental line of Vector Optics, this optics has a lifetime warranty. It covers any malfunction or factory defect. This provides a lot of peace of mind at the time of purchase.
Disadvantages in detail
Unfortunately there is no alternative to this scope in MOAs, only MRADs or MILs. We know this is a problem for all those used to working with angle minutes.
Although the maximum magnification of the scope reaches for medium distances, other competitive models have 8X and up to 10X. This is a point where this viewer could improve.
Finally, we have talked about the virtues of the reticle , but it is also true that it falls a bit short in references. While this is something that depends on taste, I think that since the scope is a close-up focal plane, a couple more references could have been added.
Presentation of the Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP
We leave you the video presentation of the product courtesy of Vector Optics Online:
General Opinions Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP
This scope has had a very high level of acceptance among users. Of the total number of respondents, 98% said they would recommend the product.
As for the main reason for their satisfaction, buyers say that the price-quality ratio of the product is very good. Compared to other models with similar characteristics, the Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP has a considerably lower price.
Personal opinion Vector Optics Continental 1-6×28 FFP
Personally, I consider this riflescope to be very competitive in price. There is almost no point of comparison with the sights offered by the big brands.
It is a difficult scope to find since, as we said, it has a fairly specific purpose, especially in Europe. And for the price they ask, I think the quality is very good.
In short, I think it is a quality product with an excellent price.
Good shots!
