A good friend was buying a new scope and before paying he asked me for my opinion. I asked him to give me the name, it was the Vector Optics Continental 4-24×50.

I told him that I didn’t know that one but I would study it in detail and I would give him my opinion after a few days. Since I had to comply with it, I prepared myself to carry out an exhaustive analysis so that in the process I can take advantage of my study hours and write the review that you are reading.

That is why today I bring you a review of the VO Continental 4-24×50 viewer where I am going to analyze main features , pros and cons and give my opinion on whether it is worth buying . Let’s go!

Features Vector Optics Continental 4-24×50

We go first with the analysis of its attributes by way of presentation of the product.

A scope for long distances

Sometimes you can quickly understand the purpose of a scope by reading the type of magnification it has. In this case it is a variable zoom of 4-24 zoom , which makes me perfectly understand that it is for long shots .

While the minimum 4X magnification can be used for medium-range shooting , what ultimately reveals the true identity of this sight is its massive 24X magnification . That said, it does not take away from the fact that we are in the presence of a very very versatile telescopic sight .

The diameter of the objective lens of 50 mm is another of the characteristics that confirms its purpose, since it is much more open than a standard hunting lens of, for example, 40 mm. The larger the diameter of the lens, the greater the entry of light and, therefore, the better image quality.

SFP (Second focal plane)

When we talk about sport or precision shooting there are 2 groups of shooters :

  • Those who prefer second focal plane scopes .
  • Those who prefer first focal plane scopes .

Both types of focal plane have pros and cons.

In a first focal plane scope, the size of the reticle increases or decreases in conjunction with the zoom level that we set. This makes the reticle references valid at any magnification level . The downside to this is that at very low magnification the reticle hardly appears as fine as it is , making low-zoom shots difficult.

In contrast, in a second focal plane scope, the reticle is not altered when moving the zoom , and therefore it is just as visible regardless of the zoom level we choose. However, it should be mentioned that, in this case, the references are only valid at the maximum magnification level . In any other zoom setting, references don’t work for us.

Illuminable precision reticle VCT-20

As expected based on the purpose of the scope, we have a referenced reticle for making corrections . It is of the “Christmas tree” type and is a creation of Vector Optics .

It should also be noted that the center of said reticle can be illuminated from the left side turret of the scope, with 6 intensity levels including the OFF mode .

In general they are quite similar to each other, the big differences are in the magnification levels and, something peculiar about the 4-24×50 is that it is the lightest and most compact of the three only slightly.

Is it worth buying? Pros and cons

We now go with the analysis of the positive and negative points of the scope according to this blog.

Advantages

✅ Versatility.

✅ Excellent value for money.

✅ Lifetime warranty.

Disadvantages

⛔ Posts too thin on reticles.

⛔ Parallax starts at 15 yards.

⛔ Regular quality accessories.

Advantages in detail

It is a scope so wide in its magnification capacity that it is easy to use it for different purposes . For example, this a precision scope, but the second focal plane and the low magnifications make it possible that it can eventually be used for hunting scenarios . It would not be optimal, but it is doable.

The price is very reasonable given the features that the product has. This is usually a common factor among the scopes of this brand. Vector Optics has always been known for having good prices.

Vector Optics has a lifetime warranty for all its Continental line scopes. Simply make the claim and the warranty will cover any poor manufacturing errors that the product may have . However, it is not at all common to have problems with them . At least I haven’t heard of any.

Disadvantages in detail

Being tactical and referenced scopes, it is quite common for them to have thin posts. I don’t particularly like that the crosshairs look so thin, maybe it would improve that. However, I understand that there may be shooters who disagree with me in this regard.

The parallax adjustment of this scope begins at 15 yards, this makes it difficult for the scope to adapt to competition disciplines with air rifles , where the ideal scenario would be that the focus adjustment begins at 10 yards.

Finally, the add-ons that come with the scope are quite poor quality. I’m talking about the caps to cover the lenses and mainly about the rings. . Recomiendo cambiar las mismas por unas de mayor calidad.

General opinions Vector Optics Continental 4-24×50

Of Vector Optics in general there are very good references on the market . They are very good quality scopes at an excellent price . They do not break, they work well and they take care of our budget.

I have been asking if this particular scope sells well in gunshops and they have told me that yes, that in general it is something that they usually have little in stock, but when there is availability, it is a product that quickly sells out.

Personal opinion Vector Optics Continental 4-24×50

Personally I think it is a rifle scope with very defined characteristics. Generally oriented to precision shooting and with a preference for second focal plane scopes.

The price is very good and the guarantee gives peace of mind when buying.

In short, yes, I would recommend the scope for the right shooter.
