Looking for inexpensive alternatives for hunting scopes, I came across a quite interesting one . I had been told about this scope a few months ago, but it was not until a few days ago that I began to analyze it in detail. It is the Vector Optics Continental 1.5-9×42.
It is known that Vector Optics has been hitting hard for a few years. For those who do not know it, it is the only Chinese brand of riflescopes that the market for hunters and sports shooters has confidence in them , and they stand out for having excellent prices and good riflescopes .

Let’s first look at the main attributes of the scope and then define pros and cons.
Zoom versatility
The zoom combination, 1.5-9, offers a lot of adaptability to different types of hunting scenarios . It is an X6 scope , which means that the maximum magnification is 6 times the minimum magnification.
With a minimum magnification of one and a half (1.5) We can perfectly use this scope for short-distance hunting. It is true that we cannot aim with both eyes open, since it is not 1X zoom (no magnification), but in general for driven hunts and other close distance hunting scenarios, it is a scope that should work very well.
In addition, with a maximum magnification of 9X we can use it for medium distances , such as stalking, waiting and even mountain hunting (if we are at an appropriate distance). This is precisely what we mean by versatility, the fact that the scope adapts to many different types of scenarios.
SFP (Second focal plane)
It is a 2nd focal plane scope , which is successful because it’s main purpose is hunting. I would venture to say that 85% riflescopes are SFP.
For those who do not know, second focal plane means that the reticle does not change in size when zooming in or out . It always has the same size whether it is at 1.5X or 9X.
This is useful for the hunter because it allows him to concentrate on the piece and the crosshairs, all the rest of the elements that the reticle has does not interest us.

Type 4A reticles are very common in hunting scopes, they work well and are simple. In particular, it is one of the ones I like the most.
It consists of 3 thick and 1 thin posts (the upper one) and a crosshair that has the ability to light up in red , with 6 configurable intensity levels from the left side scope turret. The latter is favorable for hunting scenarios with low light .

Advantages in detail
I think the main advantage of this scope is versatility. The fact that you can mount the scope on your favorite rifle and know that no matter where you are invited, you are always prepared. Driven hunts, stalking or waitings , this scope can accompany you wherever you go.
Another advantage in almost all riflescopes Vector Optics is the price value. We know in advance that the scopes of this brand are considerably cheaper than their competitors of other brands without being less effective . Big point in favor.
All the riflescopes of the Continental line have a lifetime guarantee , which leaves us quite calm when buying. This warranty covers any type of factory error or damage caused during the shipment of the product.
Disadvantages in detail
Something I don’t like about this particular line of riflescopes is the adjusting of the zoom. I find it a bit difficult to move it and I think this can be a problem if we need speed. I recommend the quick-adjusting magnification accessory. A pity that it is not included with the scope .
The counterpart in the versatility of this scope is, of course, the lack of specialty. Although it is a good scope for all practical purposes, it isn’t the best alternative for anything in particular. It is not the best alternative for driven hunts, nor is it the best for mountain hunting, but it is decent in all scenarios.
The extras included with the scope are of quite bad quality. The rings, the lens caps, the presentation in general is not very good. This is something that I think the Chinese need to improve.

Vector Optics in general is a brand that works very well among shooters, they are cheap and of quality. Little by little they demystify the belief that all Chinese riflescopes are bad.
In particular, I don’t have many friends who have this scope, but those who do told me they were satisfied. It’s a high-selling model, and there have been no complaints from the gunshops that have it available, which is a good sign.
Personal opinion Vector Optics Continental 1.5-9×42
In my opinion this scope is a very good option if you are looking for a scope for general hunting. If you don’t have too much budget to buy more than one scope , this alternative is sure to be interesting for you.
In addition, the price of it is much lower than any other optics with similar characteristics. I have studied it quite a bit and that’s a fact.
In summary, great alternative for a general hunting scope at a very good price. I recommend it.
