On the surface we see a relatively inexpensive Chinese scope with a good level of magnification and an interesting appearance . Vector Optics is already known for its very good value for money but we are gonna make an analysis not having previous opinions in mind, as objective as possible.

• Lens diameter : Wide. 50 mm favor a good entrance of light.
• Focal plane: Second focal plane. The size of the reticle does NOT change with zoom.
• Turrets : Tactical type, with visible marking and blocking. With zero resettable.
• Turrets adjustment : Good. 45 MOA total internal adjustment. Click value 1/8 MOA.
• Eye relief : Excellent. 78-100mm eye relief.
• Tube Diameter : Standard 30mm. In one piece. Prepared for the recoil of air rifles.
• Protection : Shockproof (1000g), totally watertight and fogproof (nitrogen purged).

Purpose of the scope

Mainly precision shooting and sports-type target shooting (between 10 and 50 meters).

Can it be used for precision shooting? Yes.

Can it be used to compete? Yes. Especially disciplines with air guns and low calibers.

Can it be used for hunting? Not recommended.

Regarding the platforms on which the scope can be mounted , it is specially designed to withstand the recoil of air rifles, pcp and low fire calibers for precision shooting (ex: .22, .22 mg .223, etc) .

Let’s now analyze the attributes of the scope with its primary purpose in mind: sport target shooting.

Comparatively speaking it is a scope very close to the rest of the line . As similar characteristics that we would like to highlight we mention:

• They are X4 magnification scopes (the maximum zoom is 4 times the minimum zoom).
• Same objective lens diameter ( 50mm , quite wide).
• All are second focal plane and are expressed in MOA .
• 30-millimeter monotube in all cases.

It is true that we can find slight additional differences such as a few extra millimeters long, some minimal difference in weight and other details but in general they are very similar and the biggest difference we have is in the amount of zoom.

The price is very similar between all, more zoom, higher price. The scope we analyze is exactly in the middle of the line in terms of price , only about 10 dollars of difference compared to the smaller or larger models.

Advantages in detail

It is a scope that usually costs around $ 200 , which is quite cheap for a decent scope. Suitable for almost any budget and sometimes the prices go down and we can get interesting offers.

The entire Sentinel line has a 5-year warranty. Which leaves us quite calm when buying. Any manufacturing problems will be covered by Vector Optics at no additional charge according to their policies.

Sentinel does not disappoint Vector Optics’ good reputation for value for money. One might believe that a 200 dollars sight is not worth a paperweight, but this piece it is extremely effective despite its price. It complies with what it promises and takes care of our pocket.

Disadvantages in detail

The reticle illumination system is pretty bad. There’s not much sharpness to the reticle when it is lit, and it adds annoying extra brightness that doesn’t help at all.

It is a long scope and not at all light. This is always a disadvantage, but to be fair, it is intended for precision shots that are taken with support so weight should not be too much of a problem.

The entire Sentinel line leaves out those of us who operate with MILs. Obviously it is a model that is sold to regions that use MOA and that’s why there is no alternatives of this model in another unit of measure.

Having analyzed the general opinion of the users of the VO Sentinel 8-32×50, we can conclude that:

• You get a good piece for the price. The scope delivers what it promises.
• The illumination and parallax are far from perfect. They are poor additional features, but we prefer to have them rather than not have them.
• The lens are not a 10 but the image is clear, sharp and effective for the type of shot to be performed.
• Even though the product comes from China , shipping times are good and customer service is decent.
• We have not observed complaints about malfunctions or details out of place in the scope .
